Namık Kemal Neighborhood has been a developing and preferred neighborhood in recent years. The most important structure is Namık Kemal University. Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University was established here with the law numbered 5467 published in the Official Gazette dated March 17, 2006 and numbered 26111.

Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University carried out the first studies of the structuring process that started in 2006, within the body of the Trakya University Rectorate, and later at the Namık Kemal University Practice Hotel in Tekirdağ. Rectorate units started to serve in the old municipality building in the center of Tekirdağ in November 2007 and continued to serve in the Dean's Building of the Faculty of Agriculture in Değirmenaltı Campus from January 2008 to December 2009, and started to serve in the Central Classroom building as of January 2010. Since 2012, it has moved to the new Rectorate building and carries out its services from here.

Thus, Namık Kemal University, in a short period of 12 years; It has become an important institution in the academic world of its region and our country with 10 Faculties, 3 Institutes, 3 Schools, 11 Vocational Schools, 11 Research and Application Centers, 5 Department Heads affiliated to the Rectorate, a total of 25.120 active, 52,832 graduate students and 1.685 academic and administrative staff.

Namık Kemal University Research and Application Hospital is also close to the campus. There are also KYK dormitories and private dormitories near the university campus.
